Obituary for James H. Linn Jr.

James H.  Linn Jr.
James Howard Linn, Jr., 88, of Salisbury, passed away at Hospice at the Lake on Sunday, March 3, 2013. Born on August 30, 1924 in Cumberland, Maryland he was the son of the late James and Lula Graham Linn.
He graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1942, attended Mercersburg Academy until he was drafted into the military. He served with the 3rd Army under Patton in the 567th AAA Division. After his discharge he attended Potomac State College in Keyser, West Virginia. He graduated from the University of Maryland in 1951.
Jim married Maryjane Edwards in 1948. They moved to Salisbury, MD in 1951, he worked for GMAC and then managed the Miller Bros. Plant until he joined Bill Ahtes Real Estate in 1975. He served as Sales Manager for Ahtes, Hanna, McLaughlin and also, Cooper-Stewart. He retired in 2007.
Jim was active in civic activities in the Salisbury area. He was a past member of the Salisbury Jaycees, the Delmarva Traffic Club, the Elks Club, a past Exalted Ruler and Secretary, an active member of the Elks Golf Club, and a member of the Delmarva Golf Association. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Salisbury since 1951.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Norma Linn Flynn, his mother and father-in-law, Grace and Webster Edwards and his son-in-law, L.A. Abbott. He is survived by his wife, Janie Linn. They would have been married 65 years in July; two daughters; Danna Linn Abbott and Kerry Linn Burger and her husband Steve, five grandchildren; Lex Abbott and his fiancé Jennifer Evans, Jenna Abbott Hoch and her husband Corey, Stephanie Linn Burger, Katelin Ann Burger and Laura Elizabeth Burger, two great-grandchildren; Laney Grace Hoch and Keller James Hoch.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Asbury United Methodist Church in Salisbury where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. Glenn P. Catley, Jr. will officiate.
Memorial donations may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, 1401 Camden Ave., Salisbury, MD 21801.
