Condolence From: Ramiro Barrera DDS
Condolence: My condolences to the family. I met Mr. Duyer down here in the Rio Grande Valley. He was witty and cordial every time I saw him. So was Mrs. Duyer. I admired him because he was one of those lucky people that was able to make a living and a life doing what he loved. And that love was music.
I also admired him for taking the time to understand and embrace the rich history of the Valley. He took the time to learn Spanish well enough to teach others living down here for the summers. And he also took the time to learn and embrace the music of the people that live along the Mexican border. Embarrassingly to my staff and I, he knew more of the older and classic "corridos" and "Mexican polkas" than we did. And we were all born and raised down here.
I hope that you all inherited his love of life and his love of music.
