Obituary for Edith Pearl Hastings (Hammond)

Edith Pearl Hammond Hastings, 92, of Salisbury, passed away on Monday, September 10th, 2012 at Golden Gardens in Parsonsburg. Born in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late Arley Washington Hammond and Martha Ella Morris Hammond.

She was a member of the Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church. Years ago, she and her husband enjoyed traveling in their RV and were members of the Holiday Ramblers. She loved sewing, gardening and crafts.

She is survived by her husband, of 74 years, Irving Christopher Hastings; 2 daughters, Carolyn H. Webster and Arlene H. Bradford and her husband, Allan, all of Salisbury; 3 grandchildren, Wade Bradford and Chris Webster, both of Princess Anne and Laura Toadvine of Fort Myers, FL; 7 great grandchildren, Hannah Webster, Brianna Toadvine, Josh Toadvine, Noah Toadvine, Garrett Bradford, Nathan Bradford and Brooke Bradford; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 5 sisters, Florence Hearn Davis, Maude Davis, Sadie Adkins, Alice Phillips and Jessie Hammond; and a brother, Reese Hammond.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 15th, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Milbourne Adkins and Rev. Oren Perdue will officiate. Interment will follow at Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury.
