Joy Lynn Shamburek (nee Churchill), 63, of Salisbury passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at her residence. Born in Milwaukee, WI, she was the daughter of the late Betty Hubbard (nee Voltz).

Joy moved to Salisbury with her husband, Michael in 1993 where Michael worked for Perdue Farms and became president of Hudson Health Service. Joy became an avid National Life Member of the Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland, Inc., and was the current State Treasurer and District I Director. She served as President from 2003-2005. Joy was an accredited Judge of flower shows and an accredited landscape design consultant and was on the Christmas at Poplar Hill Committee.

Joy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Michael Dean Shamburek. She is survived by her son, Eric D. Koehler of Grand Junction, CO and granddaughter, Zoe J. Koehler; sister, Julie Dorrington and her husband, Frank of Orange, CA; two nieces and three nephews, Daniel and Gregory Shamburek, Samantha and Thomas Shamburek and Lisa Dorrington.

A celebration of Joy’s life will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 11:00 am at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Officiating will be Dr. Robert A. Coker.

Contributions may be made in her memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
